Malaysian Belle by STOWA - Limited Edition of 33 pieces for Malaysia

Now for some watch related news for the watch enthusiasts. For the first time ever, Stowa has decided to partner with Red Army Watches (RAW) Malaysia to launch a special edition available only from the local watch retail maverick. Only 33 pieces of this edition are available and each of the 33 watches will be customised with a serial number and an engraved name of the owner on the buckle.

The unique rendition of the Stowa Flieger watch made exclusively for the Malaysia market is inspired by the traditional Kebaya and its form fitting hint of smouldering sexiness that harkens back to the idyllic villages of yesteryear. Nothing will get you on the upswing faster than donning a tribute to the past.

Malaysian Belle, a centre figure in the artwork, is our own interpretation of pin-up girls, done in Kebaya style. Popular in the beginning of 20th century, pin-up girls were not only used in the consumer product advertisements and the entertainment industry, but also on the aeroplanes all across the world. In our own world of imagination, we would like to think that the famous Kebaya doomed by Peranakan ladies confer pared down feminine sensuality via unforgettable aesthetics, which offer an insightful peek into the culture and majesty of the female form.

The single artwork presented by Stowa for Malaysia, with a uniquely Malaysian theme. The rare edition will definitely go down in the history as one of the rarest collectible pieces in the watch collecting community since there are only 33 pieces made, coupled with the unique story behind it as well.

There will be a small gathering to present the watches to the privileged owners on a date and venue to be decided in the near future once it’s sold out. The numbers of which number 4, 13, 14, 24, and 34 are omitted.

Limkokwing University Launches World’s Biggest High School Debate Championship

Just a quick sharing on this piece of news I received recently. With a participation list of over 200 teams from across the nation Limkokwing University is set to launch the biggest debate ever organized for high school students. Chief Adjudicator Don Siron Pereira said this was the first time a debate of this magnitude was organized for high schools and this included the impressive amount of prizes allotted for both participants and winners.

In total the prizes that include scholarships and cash amount to RM2.5 million, considered the highest a university has invested to encourage debates. University President Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Dr Limkokwing said this was to inspire more students to brush up their skills in oratory and debate to participate.

Limkokwing University has introduced this international debate championship to provide an avenue for students to build their skills in thinking in a structured manner and speaking with confidence. Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Haji Abdul Razak commended the university for providing this opportunity to Malaysian youths to build their skills.

The format used is based on the British Parliamentary Style of debate. The best team will get an all-expenses paid trip to London where they will get a chance to spend a month at the University’s London campus. The top team will also receive a cash prize of RM10,000 and full scholarships tenable at the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology in Cyberjaya for their choice of programme.

All participating teams will receive a 50 per cent rebate in tuition fees for the first year if they register to complete their studies at the university. An independent international panel of experienced adjudicators will manage the debate process. They will also share their experiences and tips with the debaters at the end of the competition.
