New Year's Eve @ That Little Wine Bar

If the world does end in 2012, then for goodness sake conclude life over dinner at That Little Wine Bar with intimate friends, reminiscing over pleasurable years and less appetizing ones, maybe even finally propose to that person you’ve longed for seated right next to you! What have you got to lose? If she says yes, fantastic, if not, a selection of wines will be ready to console you. Just do it before the clocks strike twelve.

A non-believer you say? Well you can still be assured of a fine meal with us regardless of what the future holds. Worlds may end and new ones may emerge but epicureans can always fall back on old-world culinary finesse practiced by Chef Tommes and his team. We’re no apocalyptic soothsayers either, so we’ve come up with a special menu to celebrate in glory the transition of one brilliant year to another.

We begin with the intensely hued beetroot-glazed salmon in crimson finished with horseradish crumble—a mouthwatering start that combines the sweet and tender salmon with a piquant crunch. This is followed with a delightfully soft and buttery seared foie gras served with a stimulating apple chutney and port wine reduction. As for the pièce de résistance of the night, you will have the option of savouring either pork Wellingtons or black cod en papillotte. The pork Wellingtons come accompanied with Savoy cabbages and drizzled in red wine jus, while the black cod is prepared with white wine, a julienne of vegetables and light Boulangère potatoes.

Just as cheers of goodwill are heard and polychromatic fireworks illuminate the night sky, indulge in a decadent chocolate blancmange complemented with cappuccino sauce, or simply recline and enjoy the festivities from our balcony to the sound of comfortable whirring fan blades with coffee and friandise. Perhaps you prefer to open a bottle of wine instead to celebrate the occasion? Then step in to our wine room and discover our bottled up passion for exquisite vintages, for what is a medley of inebriants if not for the enjoyment of enthusiasts and connoisseurs alike.

So forget overcrowded malls and deafeningly loud music, join us for a comfortable New Year’s Eve as the inevitable approaches (we’re referring to the bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, of course). Invite friends and family or even that special someone as the fate of your world rests with your meal. Bon appétit.

Yuletide Festivities At Hartamas Shopping Centre

Popular suburban mall, Hartamas Shopping Centre at Plaza Damas, is all set for a spectacular festive season. Regardless of age or interest, Hartamas Shopping Centre promises something for everyone. This festive season, bringing together Christmas and New Year, offers a great opportunity to spend time with family and friends, or to reconnect with people we have not seen for a while. With a festive season all about colour, cheer, and coming together, what better place than Hartamas Shopping Centre to liven up all of these.

Kick-starting our festive season is something special by kids. Twenty, seven foot tall Christmas trees, decorated by the wonderful kids of Krista Education, will be on display from 2-11 December. Themed, “Christmas of the Future”, these twenty trees represent the hopes and dreams of our next generation, looking at Christmas through their eyes. Following ten days of display, the trees will be donated to orphanages and old folks homes around KL, in order to share the Christmas spirit with as many people as possible.

Hartamas Shopping Centre’s Charity Bazaar reaches us on the weekend of 15-16 December. “Festive Fiesta”, with over 50 stalls daily selling a range of fun handicrafts, unique gift ideas, boutique products, and some scrumptious home baking and other goodies, this is an ideal opportunity to purchase those gifts for hard-to-buy-for people. You may even see a few local celebrities participating and lending a hand with the baking. It’s always nicer to buy something unique or hand made as gifts, and our Festive Fiesta will certainly open up your gift seeking to some spectacular products.

With Santa doing walkabouts every weekend until 23 December, all the boys and girls can tell Santa personally what they hope he will leave under their Christmas tree. For those who want a little more Santa time, our Christmas Department will be hosting a very special Brunch with Santa on Sunday 9 December. Each child who attends will get to participate in some fun learning workshops, and take home a festive goodie bag each. Priced at RM 50 per child and RM 25 for adults, brunch with Santa is limited to 50 children only.

Get ready to bring your holiday cheer to make stockings, letters to Santa, Christmas ornaments and more at Santa’s Elves workshop, happening on 15 & 16 December. Since limited spaces are available, make sure your pre-register to book your place before it’s too late! Each child who participates will get to take home their Christmas art & craft. Certainly, the gift of something handmade from a child is the most special gift from the heart.

Other surprises Hartamas Shopping Centre has in store include a Horse and Carriage, ride for kids and adults in an old school carriage - available on 9 & 15 December.
From now until Christmas Day, Free Gift Wrapping facilities are available. Just bring to the dedicated wrapping booth any gift purchased mall-wide and our friendly staff will be more than happy to transform it into a beautifully wrapped gift for you.

Upcoming photographer and artist, Tya, an extraordinary young lady with immense talent, will be exhibiting pieces from her collection in her first solo exhibition entitled “The Giving Art with Tya” between 8-25 December. The victim of a horrific accident, Tya now expresses her perspectives on life through her photos - being mostly exquisite landscape pieces - and her artwork, juxtaposed against the structure of landscape, as bright, cheerful abstract work. Tya’s work will be on display at Hartamas Shopping Centre for all to enjoy, with an opportunity to purchase pieces you like directly from the artist. 10% of all sales will be donated to charity - an amazing gift from such a wonderful and giving lady.

The piece-de-resistance is the Holiday Bonanza Giveaway, happening from 14-16 December. Spend over RM 150 in any single receipt mall wide and redeem your receipt for a free holiday accommodation. There are 500 vouchers up for grabs! Please check with the concierge for other term and conditions.

50 Foot Dandelion Arrives In Asia For Heineken Thirst 2012

Wish, a 50 foot LED dandelion has arrived at Sepang International Circuit right on the heels of Malaysia’s premier electronic music festival, Heineken Thirst happening this 8 December.

Installation of the towering structure is in progress & will be ready for its Asian debut. Already a favourite at international music festivals like Coachella Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival and Nocturnal Wonderland, the 50 foot high Wish will be a sight to behold this Saturday.

Designed by San Francisco public art conceptualist Robert James, Wish consists of ‘three contemporary dandelions that are losing their seeds in the wind’. Clad in aluminium leaves and mirrored glass, the structure is edged with pulsating LEDs that react to the beats of music surrounding it.

“Wish is a figurative sculpture of three dandelions losing their seeds in the wind. As a child, I was always told when you held a dandelion and blew the seeds off, that a wish was to be made. Building it from ground up for the first time here in Asia will be nostalgic and as epic as Heineken Thirst,” says its creator, Robert James.

This year, Heineken Thirst features 12 DJs performing in two arenas with Avicii and Justice both making their Malaysian debut. They are joined by top flight talents from abroad: Above & Beyond, Gesaffelstein, Brodinski and Heineken Thirst alumnus: Goldfish and Blink, LapSap, Mr Nasty and GuruGuru, Phil K Lee, Tommy Cham, Nick Haydez, Jee Hoe and Hypeembeats,

Get your tickets now as pre-sale tickets (RM128) are selling fast at all Rock Corner outlets. For more information on the event, download Heineken Thirst festival guide at ( or follow Heineken’s Twitter (
