Domino's Pizza Lunch

Well, thanks to some good performances for the past quarter by my company, the bosses decided to treat the bunch of us some really good domino's pizza.

Domino's pizza being eaten

I was sort of late to the feast though, so by the time I arrived at the conference room, people were already digging into the food. It was an awesome meal, plus since it was a treat, the food tasted better!

Eerie Weather Genting Highlands

Well, last weekend I had to go up Genting Highlands to meet the in-laws. I took my own sweet time though and only began departing from my house in Setapak at 2am.

It took me roughly 40 minutes to reach the peak, but the weather was unforgiving to say the least. It was so cold, and coupled with the mist, visibility went down to <100m.

What actually freaked me out was not the lonely journey up Genting at 2.30am in the morning with no cars do be seen, but the fact that I had to enter the carpark looking for a parking space with nearly zero visibility.

Remind me to drive up Genting Highlands earlier in the night next time.

My Gold Hennessy VSOP Privilege Cognac

Having won the Hennessy "Fruit Ninja" Mix game back in the August edition of Hennessy Artistry, I finally had the time to pick up my prize of an exclusive limited edition gold Hennessy VSOP Privilege Cognac bottle. It looked really nice in gold, with the writings and all. So now, the question would be, when are we going to drink up and be happy?

The Season Of Weddings

So I'm done with my wedding ceremony 2 months ago, but the season for weddings is still far from over. So far I've received numerous wedding invitations almost every other weekend.

Today, I just received yet another "red bomb" from my colleague for his wedding early next month. Why do we call a Chinese wedding invitation the "red bomb"? Well, it's like a bomb being unleashed on you because each wedding dinner you attend or cannot attend has to come with the mandatory "Ang pao".

Many good wishes to my colleague, and everyone who just got married or is going to get married soon! Happy marriage life.

A Sausage Named Bob

So I was at Sausagefest the other day with a bunch of other friends for their charity event brought together by the band "A sausage named Bob" and Smart Society, an arts school for the underprivileged.

One of the stuffs I got from the goodie bags was their CD. Took it out today to listen to it while driving to work this morning, and I felt the songs inside were pretty good. Do check them out should you have a chance. :)

Breakfast At D'Klasik

I don't have a habit of having heavy meals for breakfast when I'm at work, but once in a while there comes a time when I just want to indulge myself in some early morning breakfast.

Just opposite my work place is this restaurant called D'Klasik serving Malay dishes. Well this morning I had the urge to order their Maggi Goreng. To complement the Maggi Goreng I ordered their "Telur dadar". Check out below on what I had this morning. The price came up to be RM5.

Derailed Train Accident At Petagas KK

Got this footage off Facebook being shared by friends. Hot off the news, is a derailed train accident over in east Malaysia. I do not have much info yet, just to share this Youtube video of the accident. How did it happen? Why did it happen? So many questions, but the fact remains that this will go down in history as one of the worst train tragedies in Malaysia.

Just looking at the video was shocking enough, I wonder how are the train passengers. Will be waiting for more news via our local media soon. My prayers are out for the victims of this train crash.

"Boiled Nuts" Tapah

On my way back to Penang for the weekend today, I happened to drop by the Tapah rest stop along the North South Highway. That was when I noticed this stall selling "kacang rebus". I couldn't find the English term for it though, boiled nuts was the first name that came to mind.

At RM3 for 250gm, I guess it's pretty affordable for anybody wanting some nuts. As for me, at 8.50am, I'm not really in the mood to get "nutty"

Wedding Room Preparations

Wedding preparations are underway. One of the rooms under heaviest scrutiny by the families from both side of the bride and groom would be the marriage room. Today's photo would be of the groom's cupboard.

Just for sharing purpose. All the items in this cupboard is recommended to be new. However, I did still re use back some of my shirts for the simple reason that I did not have ample time to go new clothes shopping.

So for those of you that are already married, how did your preparations go? As I type this post out, I'm on my way to my in-laws house to complete the traditional "hantaran" or "gifts exchange" process. Exciting times indeed, be on the lookout for more wedding preparation posts.

Traditional Chinese Pancake

The exact hokkien word for this would be "bang chang kueh" and it's one of my favourite breakfast or tea time snack.

My apologies for not capturing the picture of the pancake itself, but here I attach the picture of the uncle making it.

This stall can be found in the market just behind Penang Free School in Penang. I would say it's really delicious!

Storewide sales is on-going at Pacific Mall in Komtar Penang with discounts of up to 70% for all items.

The storewide sales will be on until 4th September 2011, so do drop by and who knows, you might find your dream apparel here for a discounted price.

This got me thinking, if only everything in life has a discount on it. Now wouldn't that be nice?

Magic Kitchen 1st Avenue Mall

There's a new food court in 1st Avenue Mall, and it looked great to say the least. At least the name is unique enough to capture our attention.

I wasn't really hungry enough to 'makan' there today, so this is the only magic I can get I suppose. The crowd was overwhelming, probably because its the only food court in 1st Avenue Mall. Check it out on level 5 should you drop by here!

The Dragon Headed Turtle

While going through my iPhone photo gallery, I found this photo of a rather unique stone statue I saw at the mushroom farms in Genting Highlands. It's a huge stone turtle with the head of a dragon, I call it the Dragon Headed Turtle.

Now what is it suppose to symbolize? What I know is that the tortoise or turtle may symbolize longetivity, but what do you get by splicing it with a dragon head. Dragons have always been associated with power, so my guess is it's a fengshui thing to bring "power for a very long time".

Anyway that's just my guess. I'll probably google up the real meaning once I'm back home. What do you think it symbolizes?

MPH Bookstores Gurney Plaza

Do you love books? I for one grew up reading all types of books ranging from mystery novels, adventure books to the really interesting John Grisham's novels.

So here I am at one of the largest bookstore chain in Malaysia, just soaking in the atmosphere and browsing through their books. MPH is huge to say the least. Check out below to see rows after rows of books.

I guess now with the wedding coming, yours truly will have to spend more time in this section below!

Sometimes I wish MPH lets us borrow the awesome books there like the library. But that would be wishful thinking wouldn't it.

Various Toilet Symbols

Something I noticed at one of the toilets in Gurney Plaza Penang.

I understand the left symbol symbolizing the handicapped toilets. However the right symbol took me 5 seconds longer to comprehend.

Initially I guessed something really funnier than what it's suppose to represent, which is a baby.

SenQ Electronics Gurney Plaza

SenQ is this rather huge store selling electronic and electrical items at the top floor of Gurney Plaza, Penang.

Gurney Plaza View

Gurney Plaza Penang is one of the iconic hangout place in Penang where every Penangite would visit at least once a week or more.

In essence it's a departmental store but because there are so many nice shops and the environment is nice, throngs of people come here daily. Just look at the view I took from level 6.

Teriyaki Chicken With Rice Sakae Sushi

Sakae Sushi Japanese Restaurant, the cooler version of Sushi King serves a wide variety of Japanese cuisine.

The Teriyaki Chicken set I ordered would be one of my favorite dish from Sakae Sushi. I'm not a fan of raw dishes (eg: raw salmon and all) so this dish fits me perfectly. Coupled with up to 6 chicken portions, the serving size is really generous. At a price of RM18.90, I wouldn't say it's really cheap but this is Japanese food!

Playgrounds For The Kids

There's this playground in the housing area where my parents live.

I guess playgrounds are important for the growth of our kids, so that they'll have a place to play and enjoy. But what do you do when the playground isnt well maintained? Well, that's food for thought. We wouldn't want our kids to be in a dangerous environment right.

Healthy Bean Sprout Dish

One of the things I like about having homecooked meals is the fact the dishes are usually much healthier than the ones you eat outside.

What can be healthier than this dish of bean sprouts, bean curds, with a sprinkling of prawns. Yummy and healthy stuff indeed!!

My Toy Poodle Ching Ching

One of the reasons I love to come back to my family home in Penang is because of this toy poodle.

She is my family's toy poodle named Ching Ching and keeps both my mum and dad company when both my brother and I are away from the home.

Ching Ching is really cute and smart, in fact we treat her as one of the family members already. She should be 3 years old now. Doesn't she make you just want to pick her up and cuddle?

Mee Goreng At Sungai Bakap

I've always found the fried noodles by the roadside stalls very appetizing.

This particular Mee Goreng is fried with the sauces from Mee jawa, the wet type. And because it's fried with those sauces, the taste is awesome to say the least. At RM 3.50, I won't mind going for 2 or 3 more plates!!
